Formed in 2009 by John Kinsella, Protected Industries provides computer security, web development, and cloud security services for small to medium sized companies.

Our information security practice brings many years of experience to our customers in the areas of compliance, architecture, security testing and operations. We regularly consult on PCI and HIPAA requirements, information security as it relates to social media, security architecture and operations. We frequently perform secure code reviews and penetration tests, uncovering issues others have been unable to find.

Our web development practice focuses around the Drupal CMS platform. We have developed websites for small companies, e-commerce, marketing sites and online magazines. In 2010, Protected Industries embraced cloud computing, bringing together our operational and automation experience in systems, security, and development. We consider ourselves to be experts in the cloud security field. We are actively working on development of a secure infrastructure cloud that we will be bringing to market in early 2011.

 

 

John Kinsella has 15 years of professional experience across information security, professional services, software development and Internet infrastructure. Additionally, he has over 10 years of management experience, including managing a Kazakhstan-based engineering team in his role as CTO of KlioSoft, which he co-founded in 2005. He has been an advisor or co-founder to several startups, sharing his mix of business and technical expertise to help others grow their ideas into new business.

An invited speaker at multiple conferences, Mr. Kinsella has also appeared frequently in print and broadcast media, including Time and InformationWeek magazines, blogs and various TV and radio shows, sharing his expertise on information security topics.

John holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) certifications, is on the board of directors for the Silicon Valley chapter of the Cloud Security Association.

 

Protected Industries is based in San Francisco, California.  While we are focused on Silicon Valley, we will consider projects outside our locale.
